I used almost the same source material to make two videos for PopSmart. Astra and Opus+Remotion ended up telling the story quite differently.

I made these for my Shopify app listings and to promote PopSmart. The app in both is PopSmart AI Virtual Try On. It lets shoppers try clothing virtually, and the videos also show the merchant tools for model photos and campaigns. You can find PopSmart at popsmart.ai.

I’m not a video expert. I wanted to show what the app does without making people read a whole feature list first. Having two finished videos makes the difference easier to see than trying to describe it in a post.

What changes between them

The Astra video is 40 seconds. It opens with fashion images and moves through Photo and Live Try-On, model images, templates, publishing, and insights. The black and warm-white layouts give the text a lot of contrast, and the blue campaign template is easy to spot among the other screens.

That version feels closer to a broad introduction to the app. It puts several parts of PopSmart next to each other, so I can see the shopper side and the merchant tools in one video. The product screenshots and fashion images do much of the explaining.

The Opus+Remotion video runs for 50.5 seconds. It opens with a shopper in a living room, then brings in a product page and the try-on interface. The product is still there when the video reaches the Add to cart action. Later, it shows model-photo tools, background editing, campaign templates, and insights.

I find that opening easier to follow as a shopper’s story. There is a garment on a product page, a way to see it on someone, and a cart action. The warm backgrounds and serif headlines give this version a softer feel, but the connection between those screens is what I like most.

Familiar material appears in both: the same product, some of the same model images, and the recognizable blue template. The arrangement changes what I notice first. In Astra, I see the breadth of the app; in Opus+Remotion, I start with someone using it.

I’m especially happy with the Opus+Remotion result. Long live Claude!

What I want from a listing video

For this kind of video, I want the product behavior to stay visible. A fashion image can get my attention, but the try-on interface explains why the app belongs on a Shopify store. I want the promotional video to make that connection easy to understand.

For future listing videos, I’d keep that product-page context from Opus+Remotion. The shopper should be able to connect the try-on window to the item they’re looking at, even if they’ve never heard of PopSmart. I’d still want room for the merchant tools that Astra brings into view.
